Calibration, Preventive Maintenance and Compliance

This course develops a structured approach to evaluating imaging performance, planning preventive maintenance, and documenting service work on the Medtronic O-arm surgical imaging system. Students explore general detector correction and geometric calibration principles while following the manufacturer's service documentation for system-specific procedures, tools, and acceptance limits. Image quality and radiation dose topics emphasize repeatable phantom measurements, baseline comparisons, and collaboration with a qualified medical physicist. Preventive maintenance and electrical safety instruction addresses inspection, safe work practices, test planning, and applicable NFPA 99 and IEC 60601 requirements. Supervised labs and a capstone project connect technical findings with physicist acceptance, post-service verification, service records, and applicable FDA, state, and facility requirements. Anode Technical Institute is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Medtronic, and this course is not factory training.
